Yes, you read that right — this was just Day 1 of an unforgettable celebration for Kate and Mehre.
More than a wedding, this weekend was a heartfelt fusion of two families, two cultures, and one incredible love story. We were honored to bring it all together through an inspired marathon of planning, creativity, and care.
The weekend began with an intimate gathering at the couple’s home, followed by a Day 1 celebration for 325 guests at Frederik Meijer Gardens. Our challenge was to create something deeply personal at scale — and we rose to it.
The design was fresh and modern with a touch of funk, balanced by refined florals and thoughtful paper elements. Consistent monograms, fonts, and signage seamlessly tied Saturday to Sunday, creating a beautifully cohesive weekend.
Playful sophistication showed up in sculptural candles, unexpected textures, and a wave motif woven throughout the paper goods, florals, tablescapes, and even the bridesmaids’ dresses. Color-matched candles flowed rhythmically across the room, creating a vibrant visual story.
The cake — yes, the cake — took center stage alongside a bold dessert display beneath the iconic Chihuly sculpture. Green velvet linens, patterned cocktail tables, and custom line drawings of the couple and their pets added personality and charm at every turn.
Kate and Mehre were pure joy. After years together since meeting at a “Bottom Forty” night downtown, this long-awaited celebration honored their love and their guests in the most meaningful way.
And this was only the beginning.
