Yes, you read that right — this was just Day 1 of an unforgettable weekend of celebrations for Kate and Mehre.
This extraordinary weekend was more than a wedding; it was a heartfelt fusion of two families, two cultures, and one incredible love story. We were honored to be the team entrusted to bring it all together — a true marathon of creativity, planning, and passion to create something deeply meaningful for the most wonderful couple.

The weekend was kicked off with an intimate gathering hosted at the couple’s home for their bridal party, parents, and closest friends. Day 1 welcomed 325 guests to Frederik Meijer Gardens, where we were challenged — and thrilled — to design something that felt personal, intentional, and cohesive at scale. And if we may say so: we nailed it.

The design direction was fresh and modern with just the right hint of funk and edge — balanced by warm, refined florals and thoughtful paper elements. Every detail was curated to transition seamlessly from Saturday to Sunday, weaving through consistent monograms, font styles, and signage formats that gave the entire weekend a beautifully unified feel.

Touches of playful sophistication came through in unexpected ways — from sculptural candle vessels and uniquely shaped candles to peel-and-stick wallpaper that adorned display boxes. A wave motif carried across the paper suite, color-blocked florals, and even the tablescapes, which flowed with color-matched candles in a rhythmic progression across the room. The bridesmaids' dresses and bouquets mirrored this palette, creating a vibrant, cohesive visual story.

The cake took center stage in the reception space — yes, the cake — along with an unforgettable dessert table set beneath the iconic Chihuly sculpture. Funky green velvet linens paired with patterned orange-and-cream cocktail hour tables set the tone for an evening that was bold, artful, and full of heart.

Custom line drawings of the couple and their pets elevated the bar design, infusing personality and charm that set this celebration apart. Every detail was designed to reflect them — their love, their story, their style.

And above all, Kate and Mehre were the sweetest, most joy-filled couple. After years together — having first met at a "Bottom Forty" night downtown — this celebration was a long time coming. Their commitment to creating a weekend that honored their love and their guests was unmatched.

And this was just the beginning.
