Ready for day 2? Day 2 was all about the warmer tones and traditional elements of Mehre's culture. We had to get really creative because it took place in a (drum roll please).....GYM OF A HIGH SCHOOL! To gain flexibility on bringing in their own food and beverages, this was the best solution but it was a total challenge to make it be the white, warm toned, elegant event the couple were looking for. The work started that week on Thursday as draping was brought in and we as a team worked with the custodian to hang over 600 yards of ceiling drape. It took 2 uhaul vans to bring everything over and we installed over 25 uplights and prepped countless candles, tables, chairs etc to best use our time.

Heading into wedding day, we were already feeling it as all the teams has worked 16+ hour days to make magic at Meijer Gardens but we dug deep and made sure this day was just as special. Ferns were placed at each seat with neutral textured knotted napkins and a program to let all guests know what to expect of the evening's festivites. It was important to Mehre and Kate that no one feel left out or unsure of what to expect from the customs, rich foods and timeline of events. We created an installation for the big entrance and lined the hallway with large palms Kelly had bought at costco and kept alive for 2 months for this very moment. The entrance was a labor of love and showcased floral repurposed from the day before but also baskets and rice hats (with the centers cut out) and palms and gladiolus to hand guests to wave for the couples big entrance.

The centerpiece of the room was a 14 rug dance floor that the team taped down in place and a center installation of 30 plants and wicker lights overhead. Sycamore Floral was the MVP wit this piece and the artful way she designed Saturdays floral to be repurposed in totally different ways for sunday. We guided her in this process of what we had thought but she absolutely crushed it out of the park and every dream we could have had. We complimented the floral with candles and textured stone holders and actual stone and it was amazing to see how different it felt from one day to the next.

The night was perfection with the big entrance, traditional dances, amazing food and presentation, coffee ceremony and more dancing! By 11:00 we were all feeling it but adrenaline of a job well done saw us through. A once in a lifetime design and wedding!
